A Solitude favorite

Coffee beans don't grow here in the Adirondacks but we do have a few places that roast their own beans so I'll take that as an authentic adirondack product.  We tap our maples at the end of February and sugar through March and make maple syrup the old fashioned way, we boil it down.

There is a beautiful dairy farm up the road in Upper Jay that has a small herd of brown swiss cows.  Raw milk with the cream still on top is one of my favorites.

What does all this have to do with a Solitude favorite you may ask?  Solitude Maple Mocha coffee.  It was just the thing to bring some warmth into a very raw, gloomy day this morning.

My recipe is pretty simple.

  • Coffee
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of raw cacao powder (I get mine from whole foods)
  • Maple syrup to taste
  •  milk

What better way of starting off your day than with coffee and chocolate?
